본문내용 Chun Kyung-ja in Korean Comtemporary Art.

In last April, the Gallery Hyundai held a special exhibition for Chun Kyung-ja even though she is alive in New York. In many cases, a special exhibition of Korean artist is held after the artist passed away. Addition to this special exhibition, we can easily find her works at Seoul Museum of Art near City hall. These two exhibitions were and are so popular of course.
Nowadays auctions for Korean Arts are held with popular interest, because the economical value of the Korean contemporary arts are growing higher. Among many artistic items for auction, works of Chun Kyung-ja often become the most expensive item.
Ms. Chun Kyung-ja was born in 1924 in Goheung, JeollaNam-do. When she became age of 16, she went to Tokyo, Japan to study Art more deeply. After the Tokyo women art school, she came back to Korea, and became a art teacher in a high-school. Since she became a famous Korean Contemporary female artist with her debut in 1953, she left lots of drawings about many themes. When she made a drawing about anything, the works often became hot issue of the Korean Art with many debates and some of debates are still ongoing.
With these two facts, I can easily understand that Ms. Chun becomes the key icon of the Korean contemporary art with her exotic and unique style even though the financial value of the artistic work can not measure the true value of the work.
