º»¹®³»¿ë Sometimes an exceed love becomes adherence or craziness. The larger the adherence grows, the more extraordinary behaviors come out. Emily poisoned her lover and left the dead body beside her because she could not let the man whom she loves go. At the last scene, some can be moved by her eternal love. And others can feel shivering by a crazy woman who lived with a dead lover for 50 years after she had murdered him. Then Emily¡¯s love is really something crazy?

In this story, Emily doesn¡¯t be revealed directly. She just skims readers fragmentary by gossip. Readers can not see any concrete and alive depiction about her. So readers can not know well about her and feel her unrealistically. At the same time, a fixation about her makes readers think her love is crazy; when her father died suddenly, she denied that fact and reject to treat the dead body for three days. Also, by announcing old lady Wyatt, her great-aunt, had gone completely crazy at last, the author reveals that a mental disease is her family¡¯s heredity. Because of these facts, readers can think her love is crazy.
But I think we must not regard her love as something crazy. We have to consider William Faulkner¡¯s character who is the writer of the story and think about the title of this story.
