º»¹®³»¿ë 1 Introduction

The concept of nanocrystalline transition metal nitride (nc-MeN) nanocomposite hard coatings incorporated with soft metal has been proposed by Musil and Vlček since 1998. Many efforts have been devoted to investigate such nanocomposite thin films, for example, Zr–Cu–N, Ti–Cu–N and Cr–Cu–N coatings. Sufficient hardness, good wear and tribological properties were achieved through proper adjustments of deposition parameters and soft metal contents in the nanocomposite coatings. These protective films are widely used in engineering applications due to their high hardness, high adhesive strength, high wear resistance and good chemical stability. In recent decades, researchers had developed various sorts of nanoscale films, including composite and multilayer films, and their hardness could exceed 40 GPa. Also, these nanoscale films could provide improved performances of adhesive strength, thermal stability, resistance to wear and oxidation.
In last years, hard PVD coatings, such as nitrides, carbides or carbonitrides, of titanium, chromium or aluminium and others, have been used to improve the performance of mechanical components reducing the friction coefficient, the wear and the corrosion. Therefore, it was possible to achieve better surface finishing, extended lifetime and decreasing the production and the maintenance costs.
