1.1 연구배경
전략적 연계, 정보시스템 전략계획, 정보시스템 전략 등은 실제로는 많이 쓰이고 있는 용어들이다. 그러나 연구자별로 사용하는 용어 등이 완전히 일치하지 않고 다양한 분류체계를 사용하고 있어 의미의 중복이나 혼란을 가져올 수 있다. 이러한 정보시스템 전략과 기업 전략간 전략적 연계는 지난 30여 년간 논쟁의 초점이 되어왔고 지금까지도 중요한 이슈가 되고 있다. 왜냐하면 전략적 연계는 경쟁우위에 설수 있는 기회를 넓혀 주고, 나아가 기업 전략의 지원을 위한 응용 포트폴리오의 우선순위에 대해 매우 유용한 정보를 제공해 주기 때문이다. 1980년대 초반 미국 및 유럽의 몇몇 기업이 정보기술을 효과적으로 활용한 결과 상대적인 경쟁우위로 인해 만족할만한 기업 성과를 거두기 시작한 이래 경영자들은 정보기술을 기업의 전략이나 전반적 사업내용과 연계시켜 투자효과의 극대화를 이루기 위한 노력을 계속 해오고 있다[8,9,12,14].
그리고 오늘날 복잡성과 비연속성 등을 특징으로 하는 기업환경에서 경영자는 급변하는 환경 속에서 불확실성을 극복하고 경쟁력제고를 위해 무엇보다도 정보시스템을 전략적으로 활용할 수 있어야 한다. 최근 선진기업들은 정보시스템을 단순히 기업 내부적인 차원에서 효율성제고나 단기적 비용절감 및 업무수행의 효율성을 지원하는 수준에서 벗어나, 장기적 기업성과를 높이기 위한 전략적 차원에서 경쟁우위를 창출하는 주요 수단으로 인식하고 있다. 이와 같이 정보시스템이 직접 또는 간접으로 기업의 전략적 우위를 확보하는 방향으로 이용될 때 이를 전략정보시스템이라고 부르는데, 바로 이러한 정보시스템의 활용가치를 전략적인 시각에서 조명하여 목표달성과 경쟁우위의 획득 및 유지를 위해 정보시스템을 실행수단으로 활용하고 있다[1,2,5,6].
1.2 문제제기
전략적 연계는 경쟁우위를 획득할 수 있는 기회를 넓혀 주고, 나아가 기업 전략의 지원을 위한 응용 포트폴리오의 우선순위에 대해 매우 유용한 정보를 제공해 준다.
